Leaf Theater
Washington Street
Quincy , Florida
July 29, 2006
This historic old theater was built in the 1940's . As
typical all small towns in that era a movie theater
served as a means for communication as before the
start of each movie a news reel would play allowing
movie goers to hear news of the current world war
situation. The theater also allowed residents for a
few hours to get a break from there daily stress or
hum drum lives.
Big Bend Ghost Trackers arrived at the theater at the
appointed hour of 9 p.m. Due to recent “ghostly
sightings” we were contacted by a local news reporter
to investigate the site . Patrons who attend
theatrical productions as well as the staff to include
a cleaning lady have been witness to the apparitions
of a gentleman wearing a hat as well as a lady ghost.
After introductions BBGT went about collecting
baseline data and setting up video as well as other
equipment. With data collected and equipment in place
around 9:30 the nights investigation begin.
BBGT members Scott and Ron , checking for continuing
drops in temps as the balcony and the old projection
room were investigated where the feeling of uneasiness
was felt and a series of digital photos shot. An EMF
meter reading was collected 10:08 p.m. in an area on
the second floor where a housekeeper had recently
had an encounter with a gentleman ghost. At 10:40
p.m. a presence was sensed on the first floor corridor
area. In a state of meditation BBGT member Betty was
able to communicate with a man of small stature. The
gentleman had light brown hair and was seemingly
obsessed with his wrist watch looking excessively at
the time as if he was on a strict schedule . The name
GIBSON was communicated psychically from him as well
as member Lacey in meditation picking up on the name
CHARLEY. Later as the evenings investigation
progressed the name of also became dominate.
BBGT member Valynda captured an orb in the theater area where an apparition of a ghost lady has been sighted. BBGT member Lisa investigated the projection room . Sensing a strong male presence.
After the nights investigation was completed BBGT met with the theater curator and newspaper reporters where we discussed our findings and perceptions. The reporter and curator was able to validate the gentleman with the brown hair and watch. This seemingly was the old theater projectionist who had devoted his adult life to his job. He apparently is devoting his after-life to the theater as well. The name Albert was also a former now deceased employee. At the time the name Charley and Gibson did not seem familiar to the curator......
UNTIL a phone call 2 weeks later an ultimate validation occurred BBGT member Betty received a call from a gentleman who had read the story of the investigation in the Gadsden County News as well as the Havana News Herald .The call was from a gentleman named Charles the son of the former projectionist . The caller was able to identify his father from the newspaper description to a tee Down to his watch that he constantly watched to make sure the movies begin on time. The son was pleased that his father who spent most of his time at the theater in his life time had returned to a place that he loved and was the most at peace at and comfortable at. The son also related he himself visited his father daily at the theater while growing up and Charlie as his dad called him spent many happy hours there.
The name GIBSON was validated as well by the son. It seems the old projectionist started his career as a young man at another theater in an adjunct town. This theater was named GIBSON .
Conclusion: The Leaf based upon the criteria set fourth by BBGT is indeed experiencing a haunting. This site is an authenticated haunted location.
Who Was There? BBGT members- Betty, Lacey, Valynda, Lisa, Ron & Scott

A meeting was held at the Leaf theater per the old projectionist sons request. . This would be the first time Charles A.K.A. “ Charlie” would be in the old theater in more then 25 years. After brief introductions we were given the opportunity to sit and talk with Charles and his wife . They brought old pictures of his father to share and It was VERY uncanny if I was an artist I could of drawed a picture from the apparition that I saw that would be identical to the pictures that were now placed before me. Charles explored the old theater most likely reliving many childhood memories , in the old projectionist booth and in the balcony area he became teary eyed as he shared that he was feeling the “presence ” of his father.
Charles shared with me that his father and mother had divorced in part due to his job at the Leaf. His father had made the Leaf his life perhaps being the only place he felt totally in control . Although he was paid very little money wise ( which caused much unhappiness for his wife) for his efforts he still devoted all his waking moments there. To the expense of his marriage.
I was later able to sit and talk one or one with Charles and I was able to tune in on that perhaps he was and had been for many years feeling some guilt for not being present when his father passed away at a Veterans hospital. He related to me that this was a fact, as well as the last few years of his fathers life he was very involved with his own life, job and young family and sort of unintentionally neglected his father.
It then occurred to be that this was the reason that we were called to investigate the reported Ghostly Encounters” at the Leaf. Some how from the “other side” Charles father had manage to manipulate this whole ordeal in as much as to have his son once again perhaps for one last time join him at the Leaf. Also to give him the opportunity to let go of any guilt that he had been feeling and to know that beyond in shadow of a doubt that his father was at peace and in a place that he loved the most in his life a place that he gave up all to be at.
