BIG BEND GHOST TRACKERS
FIELD INVESTIGATION FORM
Location: Gibson Inn (Apalachicola, Florida)
Observations and Conclusions:
The Gibson Inn built in 1907 by Fulton Buck was originally known as the Franklin Hotel. The inn was purchased in 1922 by the Gibson Sisters thus acquiring it’s present name. Visitor's and business people alike stayed at the Gibson during there travels often arriving by steamboats . One such boat that brought in guest was the S.S. Tarpon
whose ships captain was a sea-faring gentleman by the last name of Wood. Capt. Wood was a frequent guest at the inn . During one of his stays at the inn he became ill and succumbed to his illness in Room 309.
Guest who stay in room 309 often receive a visit from the captain himself. Some have reported being “tucked” into bed and covered by unseen hands. Others have caught a glimpse , and from time to time
items left on the bed are removed.
The Ghost Trackers arrived at the charming 1907 Victorian Inn
in the early afternoon. After introductions with Inn staff and hearing
their personal encounters and the encounters shared with them from Inn guest of the ghosts that seem to haunt the third floor we then went in search of our own encounters . After exploring every nook and cranny of the Inn and taking a series of random pictures we then decided to visit the quaint village shops. Around 8:30 p.m. with high expectations and open minds we again went about investigating the old
Inn . From time to time we did have the feeling that we were “not alone”
especially after observing one of the inn’s cats in the third floor hallway acting very peculiar seemingly to be watching something that only he could see and us wishing we could!
Ghost hunting like fishing no matter how long you wait or how much you want to catch something BIG...it does not always happen . This was one of those times. We Do believe the old inn is inhabited by at least one ghost ... we did however only capture minimal anomalies on film. We did note significant temperature drops / cold spots in the banquet room.
We were left with the feeling that although our thirst was quenched we must have more.
WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.................... AGAIN........REAL SOON...... STAY TUNED!!
